Poogooder is a grassroots movement to help end wayward dog poo for a happier, healthier community and planet. The West Seattle community dog poo bin program has nearly 100 active bins. Please support Poogooder to help us grow.
Poogooder dog poo bins are stewarded by local residents like Little Free Libraries. Poogooder provides the bin, and STEWARDS empty the contents into their personal garbage as needed. Stewards can stop at any time and Poogooder will retrieve the bin — it’s all voluntary. Want to help, but can’t commit to hosting a bin? Be a BIN BUDDY! Care for a public bin or relieve stewards on an as-need basis. Come join the movement for good and make your community and planet a happier, healthier place to live!
Why Poogooder?
When my child started kindergarten at Alki Elementary in Seattle, each morning we nearly stepped in dog poo as we raced to class. That’s when I realized that everyone has a poo story, and it’s time for us all to step up and stop the mighty poo curse. Together we can foster greater awareness and joy as a community that cares for each other and our environment. Let’s get started!

Join the community
We’re just getting started, and we need YOU make it happen! The only requirement is your desire to bring goodness. Excited about outreach programs, community-powered pet relief stations, education, fundraising, or other solutions? We want your input. You don’t even have to deal with poo!
Support the cause
Each Poogooder bin is provided to stewards for free (with a suggested donation to help cover costs). Cash and in-kind donations from individuals, businesses, and organizations help fund bins and supplies for stewards and enable Poogooder to develop educational programs that raise awareness of the environmental and social impacts of wayward dog poo. From a quick Venmo thanks (@Poogooder) to larger contributions, grants, or partnerships, there are many ways to help support Poogooder!
The Poogooder bin program is currently limited to West Seattle, but we are working on plans to scale and expand!

Need a conversation starter? Oh Poo! A Cautionary Tale picture book now available
When a boy who loves his dog but hates picking up dog poo takes a shortcut across the grass on the way to school, he learns that everyone has a poo story and it’s up to him to break the mighty poo curse. Based on a collection of true dog poo stories, this funny rhyming picture book reminds readers of all ages that we’re all in this together, and one small action can have a big impact, even when nobody sees it.
