Redeem your prize

Think Pokémon Go meets Geocaching to empower crowdsourced citizen-science research. The West Seattle Wayward Poo Hunt starts May 23 and ends June 15, 2021. Put dog poo problem areas on the map by virtually capturing wayward poo IRL! Download the free Pooper Snooper app and start adding sightings of poo you find left behind when you walk. Help collect research data and you might get lucky and spot a Poogooder gold treasure tin hidden in West Seattle. Find one and redeem it for goodies from local businesses! If all tins are not claimed, YOU CAN WIN PRIZES SIMPLY BY ADDING A POO TO THE MAP! Winners will be randomly selected from the app map, so you can win even if you don’t find a tin.

“Do I need to clean up the dog poo that I find?”

The short answer is no, since this is meant to raise awareness and get a scope of the problem, not be a cleanup event, per se. HOWEVER, it would be awesome if you do choose to clean it up and deposit the tied poo bag(s) in your personal garbage, public garbage can, or nearby Poogooder bin. We’ll even provide free Earth Rated poop bags upon request. Just make sure you “add poop” in the app before you clean it up. Then locate the corresponding poo emoji on the map and mark it as “cleaned” and you’ll get a point added on the “cleaned” leaderboard for bragging rights!

TIP: NEVER PUT DOG POO IN COMPOST (FOOD/YARD BIN), even if it’s in a compostable bag, and please don’t pop it into other people’s garbage cans without their OK. Here’s why.

Check this page each week during the hunt and follow @Poogooder #zeropoo #poogooder on Instagram or Twitter for exclusive clues to where the tins are hidden, and updates from fellow poo hunters!

LET’S GET GOING! Watch your step while you’re out walking, and when you come across dog poo that someone else left behind, whip out the Pooper Snooper app and check to see if it’s already been tagged on the map. If not, hit “add poop” to post a photo of it, and it will automatically appear as a poo emoji on the global map in real time. It’s that easy, and dare I say fun? Challenge your friends to join you and explore new areas throughout West Seattle that might need some extra love.

NOTE: You can win just by tagging wayward poo. For a chance to win, you must download and use the Pooper Snooper app or find a Poogooder golden tin hidden in West Seattle, and follow the winner instructions inside. One prize pack redemption allowed per person or associated group. Poogooder reserves the right to change the rules, cancel or modify the Hunt, and/or deny prize winnings at its sole discretion.

IMPORTANT: Only take photos of actual poo, no identifiable people or “poopetrators” or you will be disqualified and your post will be removed. If you see someone caught in the act, keep a safe distance and please do not approach or lecture them. You can add useful but kind and objective notes in the poo entry. Stay safe and be nice.
